Ghostwire: Tokyo received both a release date and an in-depth gameplay video today. The first person action-horror title was developed by Tango Gameworks, a Xbox Game Studios team that was acquired by Microsoft during the Bethesda acquisition. The team was founded by legendary horror developer, Shinji Mikami, best known for the creation of Resident Evil. Ghostwire: Tokyo will be launching for PS5 and PC on March 25th, 2022. This also means we should see it release for the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass in March of 2023. The game is available for pre-order now.

The gameplay looks rather amazing, albeit a bit slow with its movements at times. You’ll be equipped with a wide range of elemental powers, spiritual trinkets, and even more traditional weapons like a bow. Your character wakes up in the streets of Tokyo, unaware of how you got there. You find your mind bound with a powerful spirit who you find out is the source of your new found powers. There are many unique monster designs, and each archetype will require you to utilize different strategies to take them down, and the game will allow you to customize how your abilities are leveled up to better suit your specific playstyle. You’re able to explore the city to find different items such as Talisman that will enhance your abilities, or use your spectral vision in order to spot other potential points of interest. One of my favorite gameplay mechanics we’ve seen is your wire-like weapon that you can use to slice or lasso enemies.
