It seems only like yesterday we were fragging each other with Rocket Launchers on Hang ‘em High, or capturing red teams’ flag in Blood Gulch. But today, Xbox officially turns 20 years old, and to celebrate they are looking back at their history, and looking towards their future.
To start us off, Xbox is bringing new games to their backwards compatibility library and enhancing others as well. Both the Max Payne and F.E.AR. franchises are coming to the service, as well as Skate 2. Xbox is also bringing in a bunch of new games coming to backwards compatibility. Dead or Alive Ultimate, Star Wars: Jedi Knights 2, Star Wars: Starfighter, and Otogi will be available to play today.
On top of all that, each of these games will be getting enhancements, like auto HDR. All original Xbox titles will receive enhanced resolutions on all consoles. The Xbox One and Xbox One S will receive a 2x increase. The Xbox Series S will receive a 3x increase. And lastly the Xbox One X and Xbox Series X will receive a 4x increase. FPS boosts will be given to F.E.A.R., F.E.A.R. 3, Binary Domain, and NIER up to 60fps on new and existing titles all coming out today.
Announced during the live stream is a brand new six-part documentary about the story of Xbox airing on December 13th. Also on the TV side is a brief peak at the Halo tv show coming to Paramount+ in 2022.
Speaking of Halo, developer 343i have graced everyone with an early release of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer. That means you can play Halo NOW! Happy 20th anniversary to Xbox and Halo, now get out there Spartans!
